Visits to food companies: valuable opportunity for our Rwandan teachers
This week was a busy week for our Rwandan teaching team in Parma. Accompanied by the project coordinator, Prof. Roberto Valentino, 4 lecturers in Food Science and Technology were in fact able to visit two important companies in Parma area: Parmacotto, a company renowned for the production and marketing of high-quality cooked hams and other processed meats, and Dalter SpA, a leading company in the professional dairy sector both in Italy and in Europe.
In both cases, the delegation was welcomed by the direct managers of the production chain, who guided the visits by explaining the production stages and the technologies used for the production processes in detail. The lecturers were immediately highly involved in the explanation and had the opportunity to ask many questions and see up close the workers and machines that were intent on industrial chain work.
Both visits were made possible with the help of Prof. Davide Barbanti who directly contacted the company managers to arrange a visit (otherwise very difficult to realize). We therefore thank Prof. Barbanti and his academic team as well as, of course, the companies themselves who made it possible for the EnRHEd delegation to enhance the academic portfolio of the Rwandan lecturers through a very instructive experience.
